The Total War pack is pretty insane.  $20 for Rome + exp, Medieval + exp, and Empire.

If I hadn't bought Medieval for $6 and Rome for $2.50 already I would be all over this deal.

Empire is a bad buy even for $13.

The Rome gold edition and M2+Kingdoms are pretty well priced though, and are salvageable with modding (Rome is the more playable of the two out of the box).

This weekend's deal is Mount and Blade for $5.  Pretty nifty open world game, but I could never get deep into it.

Also, if you own a STALKER game on your Steam account, you can get Call of Pripyat for $19.99 instead of the regular price of $29.99.  Not bad for those people who got it for $2 during the holiday sale!

My biggest problem with M&B is that there is no apparent goal.  That's not an inherently bad thing, but I need my games to have predefined objectives.  I'm sure sandbox lovers will adore the game, but it isn't for me.

Oh, so there aren't story missions and then an ending?

I will pass. I need those in my non-fighting games.

How does the transition from XP -> W7 affect steam?

I'm gonna pick up the student version of W7 Pro and install it in about 2 weeks and ummm...what happens with steam?  I have like dozens of games installed and save games for a bunch of them.  Is there anyway to export my saves and export my games so I can reinstall steam on W7 without having to redownload 300gigs of games?  And without losing all my saves?  I remember the last time I switched computers and I lost my peggle steam save.  Man, that sucked!  I remember someone mentioning some export features though to prevent this stuff.  Any ideas?

I'm actually putting together my new PC and was going to do the backup thing, but I heard copying the steam folder is easier.  (and the saves from my documents)

Is there truth to that?

shit

well, depends on the game.  I have a feeling machinarium save won't trasnfer because it's a flash game, and I really don't want to replay any part of that game.

also, windows 7 >>>>> windows xp.  between my netbook and pc I haven't used xp in a while.  using my old old laptop now, it's like, I have to manually go through my start menu files to find something.  fuck that.  I like to just type the first few letters and everything shows up.

oh man that thq sale was a great deal.

the only problem is that RFG runs like it is on crack. i read around a little and it seems the problem is because of win7x64

ah well not a huge deal once you get used to the speed boost lol

oh and dawn of war 2 is freaking sweet.

Red Faction G speed issue is not a windows 7 64 problem.  I had the same issue on windows 7 32.  They recently announced that they will finally patch the issue, though, I thought it did make the game just as fun if you play some benny hill music during it.

and yeah, the THQ deal is amazing.  It's come in handy many times.  I didn't even realize STALKER was part of the deal, so that will save me $10 when I buy pripyat later today.

Dawn of War 2 is 5 pounds on the UK THQ store.  You can buy it from anywhere in the world and it's just a cd-key to activate it in steam.  Comes to about $8 USD.  Just got mine and activated it!

http://uk-thq-eshop.gamesplanet.com/

PS. would recommend using paypal.  Some people with CCs are getting errors but then it still charges them and they get the key a few hours later.  Works perfect with PP and entering your CC in there.
