Only other thing i'll say about Brad's top 10 is that his #5 sounded like it should have been his #1. Its so weird to go from what he says about #5 to #4-1.

Based on the bombcasts I doubt ME 3 will be goty for the rest of them.

I liked ME 3 but it wouldn't have been my goty. But then that's why I like Giant bomb. You get 4 (I guess five with Patrick) different views on games without everybody having the exact same opinion on things.

ugh. ME3 is the most cynically put together game this year. It's the end to one of the best trilogies this generation and some of the best story content (and most critical to understanding the plot) is locked away behind paid DLC. Thats straight up disgusting and insulting to consumers.

Beyond that, ME3 is just an adequate game. It's functional and plays fine. However it's rushed and half-baked in nearly all of it's basic structure (galaxy readiness, EMS, sidequests). It's almost as bad as if the game had just outright been a bad game. It's completely disappointing and tarnishes the entire franchise.

I think the original mass effect was just as clunky and "rushed" and half baked in as many areas as 3 mechanically and design wise.

Ultimately 3 is disappointing for me simply because it didn't give me the mass effect high that ME 2 did. I still found it to be an enjoyable experience (disregarding the ending debate)

Im fine with people not liking it, but this year was the WORST for hyperbolic opinions of games. ME3 and Diablo 3 being the worst to deal with. If not for Borderlands 2, Diablo III would be my game of the year. ME3 while not my GOTY, was easily better than the first game, and did a decent job wrapping up the story AS EXPECTED FOR A VIDEOGAME STORY - but then they caved to crybaby fans and THAT is what ruined things and made them cynical. Gamers were HORRIBLE PEOPLE in 2012

That's been a trend for the last few years. People trending to the extremes on everything. I also hate how twitter and forums, and just the rise of gaming culture in general has homogenized and hipster-rized most of the opinions you see in "gaming journalism". I often find it far more interesting to hear opinions on games from people outside of the hardcore community because they might say something fresh instead of repeating the same opinions we all have in the bubble. My nephew is a gamer but not really plugged into the whole gamer culture thing. I often find his opinions more insightful and interesting than anything I come across on forums or websites, etc.

Which is not to say that people can't be disappointed in either Diablo 3 or ME 3. I was in both to varying degrees. But that's different than saying they both are pieces of garbage. (Not aimed at fistful)

With a great ending, ME3 definitely would have been in contention for GOTY for me. But that ending just dragged everything else down with it and there were too many other great games this year for it to have a legitimate shot. Instead, it's a close battle between Dishonored and Borderlands 2.
