As an Arsenal fan, I don't hold any illusions of a championship soon, but by goodness Arsenal plays some of the sweetest football in England and at least our youth system works so we are looking handy long term

i THINK Uniteds days are over. Fergie will likely retire next year if not this summer after he doesn't win it and no manager will be able to turn that team into top 4 qualifiers especially with no budget.

Dude was completely kaputt in the last 30 mins of the match and still they had him take the decisive penalty. When he walked up to take the shot he wasn't a man so much as a concentrated mass of pure dread and NOW HE IS CRYING, FUCK FITBA.

liverpool should've gone into administration. I wish they did instead of FSG buying them. Hopefully they'll be relegated so their fans will realize that past glories do not make you a top club.

Went to the game.  A lot of Brazil fans, but no area designated for visiting supporters like during WC qualifiers.  I suspect at least half of them were bandwagoners with no connection to the country itself.

Brazil's players had a clear edge in both technique and speed, and could always seem to create some space one-on-one when they needed to.  Proud of the US for not turtling up completely, but the game reminded us of the gap between the two teams.

TBH, this is what we REALLY learned against the match. Brazil friendly match up was a great test drive for USA team for high level play and a wonderful opportunity to expose very big glaring flaws with our play. Anyone with a brain would know Brazil would win, but I was curious to see how USA would react. I missed most of the Scotland game but this is what I observed in tonight's match up.

- People are giving Oguchi lots of shit, but the entire back line was pretty weak in itself.
- Our strikers can certainly PLAY the part, and create great scoring opportunities, they did a great job and Brazil keeper should pat himself on the back with that defense.
- The loss of goals was not really a keeper problem, but a defensive problem. I think Howard made some nice saves, but in the long run that doesn't make up for lack of solid defensive line, especially one as scattered as that one.
- Midfield REALLY needs work and this is where most of the goal opportunities took place. Seriously, mid field sucked and the turn overs were ridiculous.

Just need to revise the basics, especially in the midfield situation. I am not big on 4-1-4-1 formation as I think it creates a lot of holes. I'm curious how we could have played with a healthy Dempsey.

The ntl team learned a lot in this game, and I think that if defense is ironed out and if the strikers take advantage of better scoring opportunities, the USA may be strong contenders at the World Cup.

With a World FIFA ranking of 27, we can only go up, I think. Notice how the team plays better as the minutes continue on, as if they're adjusting to Brazil's style of play but even then, this wasn't even Brazil's best. They were missing the likes of Robinho, and Luiz. I'm not sure I can I think many yanks who can improve on this team?

I bought a nice Holland jersey for 65 euro and put 10 euro on Holland winning the cup at my local bookie.

Hm, seems like at least one team of the 'death group' is ready.

Anyway, I thought it would be interesting if people that knew their team well would post something about their strenghts and weaknesses. At least I know not much about the other National teams besides the typical platitudes.

Some points about germany:

+ Amazing Midfield. Every position has a great player and at least a good backup.
+ Flawless road to Euro, won every game.
+ Neuer is a great keeper that is also excellent at making the game quick and generally good as a footballer. He had some unusual fuck ups this season tho.
+ Overall mixture of the team is good. Lots of players with experience in the world cup and champions league, good mix of young players and players in their middle/late twenties.
+ Lots of offensive power, lots of options. Ozil played a good season in real, Gomez had a good year.
+ well attuned team that has played together for some time, core of Bayern players
+ No injured players

- Defense is not that great, neither individualy nor the whole team defense
- Psychologically the Bayern players, that make up at least 6 positions of the starting lineup suffered a devastating blow in the CL final. The Dortmund players that had a great year are all bench players
- Bad form in 2012 so far.
- 3 key players that are normally in the starting lineup (Schweinsteiger, Mertesacker and Klose) just recovered from injuries that lasted for a couple of months. It's especially bad in the case of Schweinsteiger, who is the leader of the team.
- Preparation for the euro was very short because the Bayern players joined the team really late after the cl final and an unneccesary friendly match against the netherlands.
