Fucking Poland should have won, they really messed up in the second half. Szczesny showed off one of his famous blunders.

I hope Dcharlie ends up being right another time today   :)

Germany will score in about the 26th minute - then again just before half time - this'll force Portugal to come at them in the second. Germany will add a third around 65 minutes, and a fourth at 80.

Consolation for Portugal at about 85

then 88th minute german goal to wrap it all up. ;)

(and if that happens given i have no cash on it i will punch myself in the balls)

Portugal are but a few players and the level of expectation on Ronaldo.... wow

Germany looked like Germany - they always looked like they were going to score at some point - but unlike Holland there's just no panic.

Denmark have a great chance now - we could end up with a very interesting group though .... no surprises if we find everyone on 3 pts after the next round! lol.

I have another "getting tubbed" feeling - this time Spain to trounce Italy.

Holland played great imho, bit like Barcelona on one of those days where they dominate but can't score. I hope they will prevail against Germany, they must.

Today I'm rooting for Ireland and Italy :rock

Seems like my assumptions regarding germany's inside defense were completly wrong, pretty happy that Löw gave Hummels the chance, he played great. Offensive on the other hand didn't look so good, although Portugal played really well defensively. At least we have some options, I hope Reus and maybe Schürrle play the next game. Podolski just isn't good enough in 1 on 1 situations and germany is rarely going to be in the position to player counter football.

Really worried about Schweinsteiger however. He's the most important player for germany but it's seems like he physically and/or mentally not fit at all. Hopefully he can get back to his regular form, because we don't really have somebody to replace him plus I doubt Löw would exchange him at all.

Were very unlucky tonight, offside goal, no penalty given. Shit Dutch ref.

Irish getting shitty treatment from Uefa/Fifa reps? That's a first!

And surely after all the bullshit that happened between Ireland and France even the Irish might want the English to stuff them - just this one time?

Quote
Offensive on the other hand didn't look so good, although Portugal played really well defensively.

Given Portugal looked to go with two banks of 4 sitting on the edge of the penalty box i thought Germany created more than a few chances with some neat interplay. It's hard to break down a team that's going to commit those sort of numbers at the back but a German goal always felt like it was going to come. I wouldn't be particularly concerned about your chances - especially as opening game mentality for most teams is "just don't lose" at the best of times and definitely in -that- group. Portugal were almost certainly looking to not lose rather than harbour any thoughts of taking the game to Germany and winning.

Hoping good France shows up tomorrow!

not even the French like the french! why would anyone support them over anyone?

I mean - i know England are about as popular as a fart in a space suit but this is the FRENCH we are talking about here... Patacake Evra, Naziri, Frequent Mypooda, Thischickenis Rubery, Bentasqueen, Ben Arfa Daily...

This is like a vote for CANCER

spoiler (click to show/hide)
nt rly - i am predicting england 2-0 up then Evra hears someone in row Z saying something racist and he walks off causing the game to be abandoned - then Platini expels england even though it turns out it was a French supporter that called Evra -something- becuase - regardless of racism etc - both Evra -and- Platini are complete chobshlobbers
[close]

Also - this is the team that CHEATED Ireland out of a world cup place... CHEATED! not just 'a lucky shot' - out and out admitted by the player who did it CHEATED out of, for some players, a once in a life time shot at the biggest set of games in their life time. This is also due to the *FRENCH* Platini and *French swiss* Blatter who shunned the Fifa 2006 final presentation of the world cup because FRANCE didn't win.... who changed -at the last minute- the rules on RANKING for the playoffs for South Africa so that France were suddenly a ranked team even though they finished in the worst qualifying position and subsequently got the EASIEST draw available.... France then went on to DISGRACE THE FOOTBALLING WORLD with their antics and -STILL- receieved limited punishment from FIFA.... it STANK to high heavens so _WHY ON EARTH_ are the Irish on the French side? It's not like the Engli... oh wait... right ... forgot about all that... but STILL after all that happening in the world of football you surely have to be in the "f*ck the French!" camp

i know the comedy punch line etc of "our neigbours..." but the Irish from anecdotal evidence seem well up for France ;)

If Ukraine can beat France then that group gets -very- interesting indeed.

Starting to feel the England result was a much better result for us than the Blues - it feels like a point gained for us and two points dropped for them lol.

I fear we have the typical pattern incoming though - through the group, then first team of any quality we play and we'll crumble.

That said - impressed that England at least had some dicipline about them and kept their shape. Hart a bit slow getting down for the goal but made a couple of great stops so can't complain all in all.

Oh - i see Man Utd have signed Powell from Crewe....

Powell :

You know what? I think the United have signed two players that aren't going to bolster them - Powell and Kagawa are good-with-potential and solid-and-had-a-good-season respectively but i'm calling it now

5th place for United next year if this is the player targets they have (benzeman and hazzard both NFI! lol)
They flattered to decieve last year and i have no idea how such an ordinary United team challenged
Two or three heavy defeats in the first few games, loss of confidence, and they'll begin to follow the "Liverpool" plan

#rubshands ... can't wait.

Harry Redknapp's reign as Tottenham manager is likely to come to an end on Tuesday, with the club refusing to offer him a new contract in a tactic to try to force him out. A tense relationship between Redknapp and chairman Daniel Levy has reached breaking point and a severance package is likely to be discussed when they meet alone for the first time this summer. Levy will try to avoid paying the last year of his contract, worth around £3million. On Monday night Redknapp said it is 'scandalous' to suggest he has resigned already. 'No, I haven’t resigned and I have no idea why it is being suggested that I have,' he said. 'This is an outrage. There is not a chance I will resign. Why should I? I have a year left on my contract.' In a controversial move, Redknapp will leave the meeting in the knowledge he has no long-term future at the club. Last week he said: 'The simple situation is, I've got a year left on my contract. It's up to Tottenham whether they want to extend that contract or not,' he said earlier. 'If they don't extend it and I go into my last year, it's not an easy one when players know you've only got a year left. 'It's not a case of me looking for security. What it's about is players knowing you've only got one year left on your contract and knowing that it doesn't work, basically. 'I think it's a situation of, "well, he might not be here next year". 'You don't let players run into the last year of their contract if you think they're any good, and you don't let managers run into the last year of their contract if you think they're any good. 'It's up to Tottenham. If they think I'm okay and I've done a decent job and deserve an extension, they'll give it to me. 'If Daniel doesn't think I'm worth it, that's up to him, that's up to the club. There's nothing I can do about it.'

Last night, a source close to the manager said he had 'no idea' what would happen at the meeting and was going in with an open mind. Failing to qualify for the Champions League last season is believed to have been be the final straw, but there had been issues between Levy and his manager for some time. Spurs believe Redknapp courted the England job, although he did not speak to the FA.

RIP HARRY

any alternatives other than ATDHE for streaming the games?

the site has not be reliable today thus far with nearly every stream being shut down within minutes and the few remaining being hammered. it's a tragedy given the quality of the game.

luckily i've manged to catch all the goals although the one just scored seconds ago was a slide-show.

No effort at all, what a shitbin team. I could have been taking a nice dump. If they showed half the effort of teams like Denmark and Poland they could have won. But they played like its  a training game. Holy fuck what a shit game.
