Yeah, Messi is incredible but he's the sort of guy you'd imagine being up there with Alan "i celebrated winning the title by creosoting our fence" Shearer.

I have no idea whats going on at UEFA and FIFA, these organisations are supposed to promote football not fuck it up by doing World Cups in fucking Quatar and not allowing cameras/computers.

Bu bu bu street urchins in Africa don't have camera's is a non argument.

Fifa in a nutshell :

Africa :
Absolutely not - we cannot stop the Vuvazelas. That is how football is done there

Qatar :
Well, it's their law - so if you are gay don't be having any sex whilst you are there. That is how football is done there.

Brazil :
We don't care that you successfully reduced your hooliganism problems by making it illegal to sell alcohol at your ground, UNBAN IT now by changing the law of your country. This is how football is going to be done there from now on.

Nailed on wankers. Hollow words from empty men.

Italy was looking good in the first half, they were able to get near the spanish goal and create some half chances. Those two goals for Spain were just perfectly played, can't really defend them, especially the first one. I felt they still played pretty disclipined after the first goal, but you could see how the second goal crushed them mentally. Then they loose a man in the second half and everything is over.

Italy played piss poor, is this the team that took out Germany?

Got to hand it to Spain - they turned up in the last game. Italy had horrible luck and they simply couldn't maintain the pace, Spain dictated.

4-0 - and it could have been worse.

How did Italy play piss poor? Their first half was as good as any other performance against Spain in this tournament. Spain played their best match of the tournament and everything in the course of the game went against Italy. Spain would have crushed anybody else they way they played this final.

Italy played piss poor cause they missed all of their energy they used against Germany, there was no sharpness, no chasing the ball. They stood there like lambs to the slaughter. Their passing was horrible too compared to the precision they had against Germany.

Quote
Italy’s midfield wizard Andrea Pirlo completed one of eight passes into the box (12.5 pct), his worst percentage of the tournament and worst in any game since completing one of eight (12.5 pct) for Juventus in a 1-0 win Jan. 8 at Lecce.

Spain expended way less energy than Italy - Pirlo and the team were suffering going into the game on the back of two tough games and Spain expertly handled Pirlo

It happens - i don't think Italy had a bad game, just no one was going to live with Spain with the way they played.

A lesser team putting in a middling performance would have been spunked on - I'm somewhat glad we didn't bore our way to the final... we'd have gotten absolutely slaughtered.

Yeah, but these have been going since years. They are probably true to a certain extent, but Blatter is talking about this now only to distract from the current accusations against him. Which is pretty funny, since he is also responsible for the awarding of the world cup 2006 to Germany.

Considering that most of the team are young and have only played professionally in USA, no. The only case you make for old timers who used to play in Europe are Beckham, Henry, and DeMerit.

Weeeeeeell we are back.

Also - can anyone explain to me why Chelsea are playing two games in 3 days whilst no one else isn't? I mean - i'm not a big Chelsea fan but that seems a bit odd to me especially when they played on sunday.

Anyways, nice to see QPR get well and truly slaughtered.

down in the Championship, Ipswich didn't lose to Blackburn which was a good start
and in Div 1 , Carlisle got a useful draw with Stevenage.

It's onnnnn.

It's not like you support Ipswich! lol.

Second bottom in the Championship - no home victories. Nothing to get excited about. Possible relegation starting to loom. This isn't just a bad start - this is a hangover from a run of bad for from -LAST- season.

p.s. the United game - what a CRAP call for the penalty. Terrible dive.
