Shawn Elliot was the best thing about the podcasts of that era - especially GFW Radio.

I don't listen to games podcasts anymore.

One less long-time member.

If Evilore's goal is to cultivate a wishy-washy, easily controlled userbase that would be sympathetic to ads and the eventual GAF gold, then weeding out "problematic" members that goes against that grain is a necessity.

You forgot this part:

Going through the TTK content will get you into the 300's comfortably. The drop systems are designed to keep moving you higher at the same clip, despite hitting level 40, and you'll be buying level 350 gear from the tower before much longer.

But as Kor said, you can skip around if you want as well.

The *new* grind is still a grind. You go through the same zones and enter the same "dungeons" and kill the same enemies, the only difference being that they have slightly different objectives/you walk backwards through the dungeon you already visited.

 But w/e, if you know what iLevels armor/weapons are, and what player level corresponds to them, you're more invested than most hardcore MMO players.

Durr grind is still a grind, nobody believes it isn't. It's just a question of how pleasant the hamster wheel is, now they might occasionally refill the water bottle and food dispenser.

Destiny at it's start was always a game that people wanted to like because it got so much right but was broken in so many ways. Some shrugged and grinded, some held their noses and played on, some wanted out of this particular Skinner box ASAP.

It never reached it's potential, but wasn't really a broken game by the time TKK came out. Still flawed tho.

Destiny is the grind

I literally just started as the Iron whatever dropped cause my son has been begging me to try it for like a year. You can go back and check the Destiny review thread

Yes, there is an aspect of grinding that is inherent in every single MMO or MMO-lite in this case.

Avoiding grind in Destiny is like avoiding grind in any given MMORPG. It's sort of part of the point.

As someone who loves Destiny, I find it odd when people say there is no grind. Shoot, I'm was doing patrols, bounties, crucible, and strikes just to get my light level to 350 for days this last week. And the recommended light level is 360 for the new raid at minimum.

If you are looking for a story progression single player game then go buy an Xbox and play Halo. Destiny, at its core right now, is about redoing missions, patrolling the same areas, and teaming up with people to do raids and nightfalls (all of which are repeatable each week).
