I just bought Pillars of Eternity. Don’t expect to have time to play it. But is it good? I hear there’s a Neogaf Inn included in the game, I figure it has at least a few special encounter quests built in as well?

I didn't like it at all. Kinda weird since i usually like more vanilla rpg games. Eternity was just too hardcore for my taste.

It's great that the pug joke guy was found guilty on the same day they're letting a celebrity who drove over a 3 year old while drunk off free

Count Doku or whatever the fuck the guy's name is sounds like an idiot, but he should not go to jail for a stupid YouTube video. I don't know why I am surprised at least half the people in that thread is cheering. They never think two steps ahead about how their draconian polices can be used against them.
Our buddy Marrec is in there dogpiling with the rest of the idiots who don't see how arresting someone for a joke YouTube video starring a dog could ever set a bad precedent

Cream is too. Seems like they learned nothing from their time here.

If I ever learn something from this place please shoot me.
That joke is hate speech against people who have been murdered by firearm

I'm going to jail doing what I loved

Bukkake is still legal in America.

Dragon Age 2 and Mass Effect 3 were the ones that killed the company for me.

Funny, that was the first Mass Effect. Them dropping D20 is what killed them.

That era of Bioware gave us Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood. With the best videogame soundtrack ever.

No shitting on that era.

It is pretty curious that the anti-prison pro-rehabilitation types tend to be pretty cheery about jailing people who make their dogs do Nazi salutes or put bacon in front of a mosque (that guy got murdered in jail).

Not LITERALLY Wakanda, but a technological prosperous rich Body of black people free from white supremacy. Not just Africa. That is a symbol that matters to black people all over the world.

Yeah, but is not the whole western perspective given that Wakanda is a western entertainment creation. The film portrays Wakanda as  highly idealistic but still flawed society, so is weird seeing people overly enthusiastic of a fictional country that still has its fair share of problems.

But then again, this also happens with the other examples on  that OP thread.

Seriously though, what specifically is inaccurate about that statement?

Like usual a Reee thread involves quite a number of low IQ posters and posts, but I guess I don't really find any fault with that statement specifically?

The history of Africa is largely one of tipping points of history tilting the other way followed up by an extended  legacy of deep colonialism and external subjugation/influence. For Wakanda to work in the way the series uses it as part of the modern world, you kind of have to run into these facts.

Outside of that, like etiolate is asserting, there is no basis to conclude that a highly advanced nation like Wakanda couldn't of emerged, other than the obvious fact that magical materials that fuel their economy don't exist and this is a pop culture franchise. We just don't know what life would be like across Africa had those factors tilted the other way or if colonialism never made a run at the entire continent afterwards. To say definitively a highly advanced nation couldn't of emerged is ridiculous though, especially since relative to their time period before those numerous events, or leading up to them, Africa did have nations similarly advanced to their European and Asian counter parts at that given period of history.

That's kind of hard to tell. I imagine the coastal cities and states would be their own thing if they establish trade. The inner lands without access to technology would be left behind.

I think a Wakanda-like ideal is still mostly fantasy. All peoples and lands have gone through war, invasion and confrontation with more organized/advanced groups of humans in history. Maybe the argument is that the difference in advancement was too large in regards to colonialism, but that's not exactly a take that gives me confidence in Africa.

If your whole argument against us loving Wakanda as a symbol so much is “But realistically Africa (African people) could never prosper like that.” then that’s all the more reason to have the symbol.

Well, didn’t say it wasn’t innacurate but that the film itself doesn’t entirely portray Wakanda in a celebratory way.

Also, not arguing about the “unrealistic” concept but why may be backlash.

"It's racism and a dash of colonialism. Wakanda's existence, unlike Hogwarts or Middle-Earth, asks the benefactors of colonialism to acknowledge what has been sacrificed or destroyed to make their lives possible."

What’s wrong with that statement? Completely accurate.

Is not inaccurate but the movie also paints Wakanda to be in the wrong in ignoring the rest of the world.

Okay? Not sure how that’s relevant.

That poster was talking about what Wakanda symbolically represents in a western context

As I explained, it’s because of what it represents for us as a people.  We can only admire Wakanda if it’s a perfect nation with no flaws?

You bothered asking the 50+ African states with how they feel to be part of this "us" that you are representing?

Disingenuous racist line of questioning. “Oh no a black person thinks of all black people as one people suffering under the boot of white supremacy. The horror!”

Swoosh.

Americans representing everyone, again.  :lol

Pan-African unity is one of the defining themes of the film and your racist attempt to throw flames at that is noted.

Realistically no one has prospered like Wakanda especially as isolationists. It's a fantasy, and not at all representative of any reality for any peoples. Using Wakanda as a symbol for what Africa could have been is silly.

Wouldn’t be the first thing white people (ignorant white people specifically) find silly about blacks. Won’t be the last.

If your idea of Wakanda is that which would exist without european colonialism happening then, yes, Wakanda isn't real.

Not LITERALLY Wakanda, but a technological prosperous rich Body of black people free from white supremacy. Not just Africa. That is a symbol that matters to black people all over the world.

No one thinks without white supremacy we would have hovercars and nanomachine catsuits.
You're delusional.

If this was the case don't you think at least ONE nation in Africa would have bounced back by now? fucking hell Germany was destroyed twice, Japan got nuked, and look at them now lol
