They fixed and overhauled Iron Man when they gave him a solo film. If they can't do the same for Carol then the entire push is as pointless as it has been in the comics.

If they couldn't think of anything they should have gone with right leaning Carol from before she was the face of feminism. Throw in the drinking problem too! That would be unique at least, and they could explain her opinions as her being from the past (of like twenty years ago)

Didn't say they were, but they are serviceable. Sometimes they're too quippy, which is one of my bigger complaints with Marvel movies, but they're not lacking of personality, which is Captain Marvel's problem.

Ms Marvel succeeded precisely because of how divorced she was from.Carol's mythology. Instead of jacking Carl's name just have Kamala come up with it on her own and you can leave the rest of the character intact.

The real issue is that Kamala is blatantly just spider-man and they are already doing spidey movies.
